As an alternative, I use Rust-oleum, "Rusty Metal Primer" for heavily rusted metal. It uses fish oils to remove any moisture from metals before sealing. Just clean off any loose rust before painting, and use a high pressure/volume paint gun to apply. Let it set for two months to cure before applying any other top paints. Its been very successful in eliminating and preventing new rust from forming. I've used it on rusty tractors 30 years ago, with very little rust beginning to form again. It's very difficult to remove with paint remover, a clue to its sealing properties. Both the resin and obove paint seem to work well. Happy restoring guys!
