1964/65 W200 BRAKE JOB QUESTION

I'm in the process of servicing my brakes. The parts catalog illustration doesn't show the "self adjuster" apparatus (i.e., the cable, cable guide, and lever) that came with the Reybestos parts kit containing the "adjuster screw and cylinder". When I removed the drums and inspected the existing brake assembly, I noted that there was no "self adjusting" apparatus. Then again, there were some other strange aspects to the previous brake job, such as certain springs being attached differently from their mirror wheel. I'm wondering now if these things were put together properly? I've learned that you can't always go by the "illustration", particularly in the parts catalogs, as they are just "guides". The actual parts list in my 63-66 parts catalog does reflect "LEVER, Automatic Adjusting" P/N 2238 524 (F&R right) and 2238 525 (F&R left). My FSM (it's actually for Dodge trucks beginning with S/N 1492XXX, which means it's a "late 1965" manual) isn't very much help, insofar as resolving this issue is concerned. The only closely related description of brake servicing is for D100, D200, and P200 models (nothing for 4X4 trucks), and it shows "automatic adjusters". Of course, it also shows backing plates with TWO adjusting slots, and mine only have one. Are the "automatic adjusters" some kind of "upgrade" that came along in late 1965, or what? Does someone out there have a better manual for brake parts and placement/installation? My truck is sitting out front on jack stands, so I can't run it down to the local brake shop (I will take the drums down for "turning"), besides, I want to "learn" how to do this stuff for myself. As usual, I really depend on you experienced fellows for getting this novice out of such situations.

v/r Mark
