I am currently in the process of freshening up two Braden MU2 winches. I went to the bearing sales warehouse armed with the the Spicer and Napa u-joint numbers that were recently posted, and the actual cross and yoke assembly. I thought that this was one time that the parts guy wasn't going to foil my efforts. Well guess what happened folks! The Spicer #5-170X, The NAPA 338, the CR UJ338 dont fit the original Blood Brothers yoke. At first I thought my yokes might have been switched over the years. I checked 5 other MU2s and they all have the same size cross, which is bigger than the 338, but smaller than an 853. The bearing people say that no manufacture is currently making a cross that is 2.70 wide(measured without the caps on). The 338 is 2.0625. They suggest purchasing new yokes and crosses. Has anyone else found a replacement for the original Blood Brothers u-joint cross without changing yokes?
