It is an easy swap. In spite of the
nay-sayers, do it! The gauges can be replaced
with off the shelf gauges, like Stewart Warner
The electrical wiring is fine as it is. The bulbs
are straight swaps for 21V bulbs. The starters
are available with the floor button in 6V and 12V
but I would suggest that you change over to a
switch activated starter simply for ease of
operation. leave the floor button for the next
owner. The only difficulty is to find a gas gauge
sender with the same ohm rating as the dash gauge
but it can be done also. You can also switch to
elec. wipers (J.C. Whitney) and put in an under-the
dash heater. It is simple to fabricate an alternator
mounth from two pieces of steel if you don't want
to stay with a generator. You can change
distributors to a regular 12V or you can get a
later model smaller coil, like from a motorcycle
or honda car to go inside the distributor you have. My
choice was to hang a regular coil under the dash
and run a long coil wire down to the distributor
through a tube and into the side through the
original connection to keep the original military
appearance while using practical parts.

Reasons to switch: $40 gen. V. $240 gen.
$15 Reg, V. $239 reg.
$1 bulb V. $4 bulbs
$35 Starter V. $150 starter
(ad infinitum, ad nauseum)
6V is weak, 12V is fine, 24V is a pain unless you
have the gov't.'s budget to play with.
Keep you 24V stuff and put it in a box in the
garage so the new owner, if a purist,
can swap back. then you can honestly say "this
24V stuff has hardly been used"
