Look on the driver's side of the engine, side of
the block behind the engine mount. Cast into the
side of the block will be a number like
318-3, 340-1 360-7. It will tell you the cubic
inch displacement of your block. There should
also be a casting date on you manifolds and block
like 6-11-76 which is a good reference for the
year of the engine. For hotrodding
small block mopars there is a book put out by
SHEPERD Called "How to Hot Rod SMALL BLOCK
MOPAR ENGINES" It is an excellent book on the
topic. For both mileage and performance, you
might consider switching to a later 4 barrel
manifold with a Carter Themoquad and dual exhausts.
These carburetors have small primaries and huge
secondaries and the manifold is a good performer,
per SHEPARDS, out performing most aftermarket
manifolds. As long as you keep your foot out of
it you should get better mileage that with a big
2 barrel carb. Most aftemarket manifolds aren't
worth much on truck applications.
