My only comment is, "Remove the modification and do it right". Someone has done a real "poor mans" job on this and has created real weaknesses in the drive train. If I am correct there should not be any diffrence in the rotational speed of the two rear output shafts on the transfer case. Throw away the brake drum that has been welded on and buy a new one as it was most likely weakened in the process and I bet the yoke is not centered. Buy a yoke that is designed to bolt onto the brake drum. They are common and were used on a lot of the WCs and early PWs. If you can find a PW that has the brake drum on the transmission it's yoke will work. As for the drive line, either find an axle with a centered differential from a WC and put it in your PW or move the drive line back to where it originally was. The angle that is created, by the modification done to your truck, is too great and will lead to failure and breakage of the U joints and possibly more when it lets loose. Also remember that if you drop the rear drive line you loose your emergency brake (unless you are in 4X4). I have also seen a loose drive line take out the brake line with it, now your left with no brakes. A loose drive line can really do damage under a vehicle. An if you do loose a U joint just hope it is not the front one and that the front end of the drive shaft doesn't catch on the road surface. You do not want to know what can happen when that happens. I had a friend who did just that.

The only benefit that I can see from putting your drive shaft off the brake drum is that it makes the prower transmission through the transfer case in a straight line rather than offsetting it to the side shaft. This modification should allow for less transfer case wear and noise. I have WC 53 in which I put a PW 2 speed transfer case in and used the drake drum shaft to connect the drive line to. However, I have a centered rear axle and I was matching to it. It is a modification that I am also considering for my PW, as I have an extra centered rear axle.
