Bob:

A short wheel base Town Wagon may not be a sufficient tow vehicle for a 6,000 pound Power Wagon on a 1500 pound trailer. About 5 years ago, a guy in Illinois lost control of the PW he was towing on a trailer behind his 1957 W100 Town Wagon. The PW rolled a few times and the TW got only minor damage. The '57 TW has a very short 108" wheelbase, which may or may not be the same wb as on your TW (I don't know the year of your TW). But even if your TW wheelbase is slightly longer at 114", towing a much heavier PW could lead to uncontrolled sway and "tail-wagging". The TW short wheel base is a major negative towing factor that cannot be overcome by a diesel engine or running gear upgrades. That guy said he would never tow a PW with a TW again; it was too small a truck for such a large task. Please be aware of this concern and others bad past experiences in doing what you are planning on doing. A word to the wise.
