Two things

If this machine is wired like a 642 bobcat with a Ford engine then you have a solenoid on the starter and a helper solenoid in the wiring harness. I bypassed the helper solenoid quite a while ago by putting the energize wire directly to the starter solenoid and has worked that way all summer.

On the other hand, if the starter doesn't turn fast enough with a known good twelve volt source to get the solenoid to engage--have you tried a wheel charger on engine start? then I would have a chat with the local auto electric shop and have then check it unless you can get your money back over a "no return on electric parts" policy
