I went with Bandag. They are just about everywhere. I got the ML70 tread which is a military pattern tread similar to the XZL pattern. That may be more agressive than you want. They did not want to recap them at first because of safety issues I guess. They said my casings were "negligible" I assured them that the tires were going on a custom type "rockcrawler" and would never see the pavement (I lied.). They did not balence out very well. OTR tread patterns might be different, but tell them that they are for drive wheels only not steer wheels if you go the recap route.
If you are looking for the 900-16's I have a pretty good set (85-90% tread, little bit of cracking on the sidewalls) of the old Goodyear Custom extra grip Hi-miler's (with the diamonds all around the edge of the tire), they are installed on a set of 6 bolt w300 wheels. Maby trade for your 1100-16 casings?
What about the STA superlugs, those dont look too agressive (but I ride dirtbikes also) and are readily available in 900-16"
Also, I can still get the Power Kings, from a local independent tire dealer, I think he also has a 900-16 tire in the Hi-miler type tread vailable brand new also. When I go to town tomorrow I'll check availability for you if either of those tires sound appealing.
I plan on coming to the RMR this year so if your not in a big hurry I'll bring them with me.
