Bruce;
All cummins engines have a CPL number. This number exactly describes what the engine is and what parts were used to build it. Cummins NorthEast told me never buy a Cummins with the CPL number missing. Without it buying many of the parts would be hit and miss. For sure it would require bringing in parts and matching, a big pain.
The CPL number also describes HP etc. In the Master Shop manual it lists the CPL numbers for 4b and 6b engines.

Its hard to say what this crate engine would come with, not knowing where it came from.

Forgetting the cost of the 4B series engine,
a NV-4500, Flywheel housing, flywheel, bell housing, clutch and presure plate, NP-205 married T case, drive coupling has cost me a tad over $3000. Now you need a radiator, maybe a starter, motor mounts, etc. I am quickly approaching $6000 and I am not finished yet. I would budget $7000 and be happy with change left over. Its a very expensive swap unless you have a good source for parts. I feel lucky as I was told to budget up to $8K for the swap by a person who has done a bunch of them. Then a lot has to do with how much you can do your self.

If your interested, email me off line and we can talk at length.

Paul
