America functions in spite of itself, because of her people. You can take the most cumbersome agency add some ignorant bumbling beauracrat and some inspired, dedicated, honest, hardworking patriot will make it work inspite of the system. That is the way it has always worked and I pray to God that it will always continue to work that way. We started out a rag-tag band against the worlds most powerful military, we prevailed. We had our capitol burned only 20 years later, by the same enemy, and yet prevailed again. We overcame one of the bloodiest 'civil' wars in history, and prevailed. While fat dumb and happy we were attacked by the most powerful military alliance in world history, and prevailed again in WWII. We will prevail again this time, inspite of real or perceived mechanisms within our own system. When I look at the kids out there in the field, performing miracles daily I am encouraged!
By the way, although it is a day early, I also give thanks for all of our Veterans, past and present, we have been blessed to produce men and women who are ready, willing and able to make the ultimate sacrifice, so that we who are safe and warm at home can have this discussion.
