His time is short. There was no tip-off of what the 9-11 hijackers were up to, until the first plane hit. Fighters were scrambles and were within minutes of intercepting the planes, can you image what was going through the minds of the ground controllers and pilots had they been ordered to shoot down that plane? Over PA, the fighters were nearly in position, but when the passengers stormed the cockpit, the plane went quickly into the ground and there was no need to take action.
The tunnels were bombed early on in both Afganistan and Iraq, Osama escaped at Tora Bora and is taking refuge in the area on or near the Pakistani Border that is not under any government control. Sadam is running from safe house to safe house sleeping only a few hours a day. In both cases, while it would be nice if we could actually plan and control things, the reality is that our intelligence agencies were gutted by mush headed leftist/socialists over the last 30 years. It will take time to re-build, recruit and infiltrate the terror organizations.
