you can buy any coil you want that operates on 12v current & the correct ohms to obviate the need for a resistor. i buy the pertronix coil and kit at the coil has a bit more power than a stocker and you dont know sometimes what you are getting from the napa or local parts house. i think spending a couple of bucks more on the pertronix parts are worth it. i used them on my m37 with a 360 and was extremely impressed with the results.
