Ill tell ya what I do now to every truck I own:

I always install a Pertronix electronic ignition. I always put in an alternator. And I always convert (if neccessary) to a 12 volt system.

I dont care what purist say when I open my hood. I am the one who has to deal with eratic firing and dead trucks with the old points. After loosing power twice with my jeep in 6 months, I changed over to the Pertronix.. Couldnt be happier.
I close the hood and it looks like every other restored truck out there.

I put in a electronic conversion on every new (old ) truck I restore now.
Its such a slight noticable change (one extra wire) and what you get in return is so much, including dependability and added HP.

I dont intend to have to push my 6800 lb WC off the road when its points fail! So, in will go a Pertronix on this one too.

Yea, yea.. I suppose the Purist's will start slamming me now how "if you keep your electrical sytem clean and proper you wont have any problems with your original system"

Whatever... I dont have the time to play with it evey day, so I want dependability.
Besides, everything I do to it is pretty easy to convert back should a Purist buy my truck someday. I keep all the origianl pieces
for that possibility.
