Poly refers to the Polyspherical 318A block, or "baby hemi". It is sometimes erroneously refered to as a "wide block" or big block. The reality is that the block is basically the same as the later wedge LA motors, it was the HEADS that were big, or wider, they are hemi heads without the double row of rockers. It is an overlooked goldmine of power!
