Ask your insurance agent. My brother had an appraisal done by an independent appraiser. 4 years later my son rolled the Jeep. It was insured for a stated value. The insurance company said no way would they pay that value. I dug up the appraisal showed it to them and they payed to within $50 of the value. Come to find out that the appraiser did a lot of work for the insurance company and they trused him. He specialized in older vehicles. They payed $8000 on a 58 Willys. It is a small investment that is in your benefit. To me it made the diffrence between a $2000 payout verses $8000 payout. The appraisal was only a couple of hundred dollars. Well worth it.
