Sounds like the accellerator pump to me, assuming your carb has one. Both of my 230s (M37 & Sno-Cat) had that problem until I rebuilt the carb (sorry) mainly to replace the accellerator pump. Just because you had it done, doesn't mean it works. With the engine off, look down the carb and have somebody stomp on the gas, or you can work the linkage yourself. You should see gas squirt into the throttle body. Another clue is if it accellerates better with the choke part way out, even if the engine's warmed up. There's usually an adjustment for the amount of gas in each squirt, by moving a linkage pin to a different hole on a lever. Perhaps the guy that rebuilt it didn't put it in the right hole for your engine and it either isn't injecting enough gas or is flooding it out. You can adjust that linkage without taking the carb off or apart.

If gas is indeed squirting into the carb properly, the next suspect is timing. Perhaps the advance on the distributor is not working right.
