Here's the Whole story
In 1966 the Amagansett Fire Departmant, Amagansett, NY purchased a new WM 300 from the now defunct DiSunno Motors. At about the same time the Montauk Fire Department purchased a '67 WM 300, (said to be the next serial number), from the same dealer. A few years later the Amagansett Dept. sold their '66 to the Montauk Dept., (in about the same condition it is now). A new brush truck has just been purchased by the Montauk Dept. and they offered the '66 back to the Amagansett Dept. who have declined to repurchase the PW. It IS for sale.
There are 6399 miles on the truck. Minor dents and scrapes to fenders; most serious to drivers running board, (still minor/moderate). Tires in excellent shape. Drivetrain solid. Engine/compartment remarkably clean. Paint needs compounding / buffing. Siren on drivers front fender, 6" red lollipop light on passengers front fender. Diamondplate step rear bumper. Padded dash on Passenger side. Floor mat torn, but nothing missing. 250 gallon skid mounted tank in bed. Bed wood appears good from underneath. Brake booster, Heater. Fire Dept. radio/speaker/light switches poorly wired. Cable is the only rusty metal on truck!
A SOLID PW that will need some minor body work to be like new. If I had the money you would not be hearing about it.
Contact the Montauk Fire Department, (631)668-5695 for further info. I was told that there have been several offers up to $9,000.00 thus far; I suspect it will go to the highest bid as with the Black Forest PW.
