WD 40 is good for keeping things from rusting, but thanks to WD's very sucessful marketing program it is often assumed that it is the perfect: penetrant, lubricant, polish, cleaner, and the list goes on. The fact is WD is the monkey wrench of spray petro chemicals. Get the right tool for the job. For your situation, I would recommend, kroil, liquid wrench or ATF. Granted ATF is no the best penetrant, but it does work well and it is cost effective to soak (submerge) the entire part. I have had good luck with it.

Good Luck
Dan
