I'm not sure about steel prices in your area but I suspect they are very similar or less than here.(most of our Steel comes from the US)
If I were to order steel plate here it would cost .38/lb. We charge out formed plate at .69/lb. & those are in Canadian dollars. Your cutting charges will be extra but I suspect your price of $1280.00 is fair.
