Wouldn't hurt to tell each shop that you got a wildly different quote from the other shop, and maybe one or both of them missed something. Don't know how detailed your plans and specs were, but perhaps the expensive guy assumed you wanted a bunch of expensive stuff you really didn't want or the cheap guy missed something important. If both shops are competent and honest, they shouldn't have been that far apart. It's a lot easier to get more information now than to rearrange steel later. Maybe the expensive guy was careless getting a quote from a supplier, or had some inexperienced person work up the bid, or maybe he just didn't really want the job.
