my '58 w200 has the felt seals as well as the rubber wipers, looks to me that the gear oil is supposed to lube everything in the W series trtucks as there is no zerk fittings on the bearing caps upper or lower to allow you to grease them, though when i did my knuckle bearings/races on the passenger side last weekend i greased everything that looked like it needed it, even if it does get bathed in gear oil. the W series also have the check plugs on the knuckle housing, but how often do we REALLY check the fluid level, good insurance i think, after all the bearings come greased.
