If you find anything electrical that says "Pyranol" on it, that was GE's trade name for PCB. The stuff is definitely carcinogenic, so if any old "Pyranol" capacitors, coils, or transformers show any sign of oil on the outside of them they should be wrapped up in plastic or a sealed container and taken to a haz-mat place. If you're lucky, the county or city provides free disposal of small amounts of "household" hazardous waste. If you're not lucky you can either pay a lot of money to get it disposed of properly or throw it in the trash. I'm not too afraid of most so-called hazardous substances, but PCB is something I don't want in me. It is destroyed by high-temperature incineration, and it used to be common for utility companies to drain the used PCB into the supply tanks for their oil-fired power plants. Burning it in a barrel out in the yard, though, is definitely a real bad idea.
