John, I admire your efforts. The grandfathered roads by Federal Statute are known as "RS 2477" roads. Apparently the local county commissioners lost out in their arguement due to "enviormental concerns". Here in Fremont County, as everywhere, we have a love-hate relationship with the local "Chiefs" of the F.S. It should be very possible under "special permit" and full cooperation of the FS, to go in there and get the job done. However, I am sure that the enviro's are watching every move. I am with Fremont County Search & Rescue under the Sherriff's office. We all have FS keys and would drive on that road in a heart-beat, if there was a purpose to be there. It is kind of a kick to tell the FS that you have driven on a road that has not been touched in 15 years, and they or no one else has called us on it. We have even made the FS take out "tank traps" behind a gated road if the Sherriff and the Commissioners deam it in public saftey. It is a matter the the local Commissioners haveing the GUTS to make the FS back off and act responsibly. Another note: even if the out-house had been erected with private funds, if it sits on FS, than it belongs to the FS. Tom
