In the Adirondack Moutains there is areas of 100's of thousands of acres of 'Wild Forever Land' Nothing but foot or horse travel. In some of these areas are old roads, beautiful 4 wheel drive roads, but entering will get you terrible problems. About 15 years ago, the Crain Pond Road which the Town says is a old town road enters 'Wild Forever Land'. The State says no travel by vehicles, the town says yes. Anyway, DEC
(department of environmental conservation) came in with a bull dozer and some HUGE bolders and closed the road. Some locals brought there own Dozer ond opened it. There was a big standoff. Shots were fired at the Environmental Police, they returned fire. Thank god no one was hit, but some did time over it. In the long run, the town won and its still a great 4x4 road. If things go sour, be ready to cancell, rather than have it go down hill and really get in trouble.
