I have heard that once tightened, the u-bolts will stretch. after this initial stretch they will stay tight, but if you try to re-use them, they will keep stretching.
I know someone who has re-used u-bolts and they keep coming loose and he doesn't want to listen to me...
They are not that expensive, unless you are aftera perfectly date coded truck...
