I was able to do side jobs with my boom truck setting trusses for mostly Amish on Saturdays to get extra cash for my trucks. I didn't want to take anything from our household budget to support my hobby. The extra on the side and some trading has allowed me to buy and restore my two trucks. I prefer to call it mad money, slush fund has a nasty sound to it, kind of political even.
