Found this on the "Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration" site just now. Code # 393.201 Frames; Sec (C) The Frame Rail Flanges between the Axles shall not be Bent, Cut, or Notched, except as Specified by the manufacture. Sec (E) No holes shall be drilled in the top or bottom Rail Flanges, except as specitfied by the Manufacter. I quess if I read this right they are saying unless the Manufacture says it is OK to cut the Frame between the Axles you can't do it. I better figure on moving the axle forward and hope they do not get bent out of shape drilling holes for all the rivets in the rail tops for the axle mounts. OR, Just figure it will be a long truck and mount the tank accordingly. Mark H.
