You're planning to cut the frame at the point of max stress and load. It make much more sense (per my first post) to move the running gear forward. It is relatively easy task, and then cut the frame behind the axle, since the entire frame is straight. Per Bros comments, a bad weld by a certified welder is a rarity, a good weld by an amateur welder is even rarer! You could accomplish the moving of the drive train gear and cutting yourself, if money is a problem.
