I just did a formula for the front to rear weight/balance on the truck. Worked out 17% front axle, 83% rear axle. This is what they recomend for trucks. Load = 13,740 lbs total, 11,404 lb rear, 2,336 front. GVW 14,704 rear, 8,036 front on the axles. This gives me a spare extra weight of 964 lbs front and 6,496 lbs rear for a total of 7,460 lbs under the weight rating of the truck on a 186 inch wheel base instead of 240 inches. I need to remove 54 inches off the frame and 24 inches off the rear tails. That puts a static load of less than 4,500 lbs on a welded joint in the frame if done that way. The formula is; CA(cab to axle)+ CC(cab clearence)+ 1/2 BL(Body length/load area)Divided by W/B(wheelbase)= Percent to front axle. Mark H.
