If you aer talking the regulator on your Argon/co2 it shoulb be preset, you just turn on the gas know and it flows out automaticly as you pull the trigger on the mig.
As far as welding goes, I adjust the wire speed and heat on a peice of scrap untill it sounds like bacon frying in a cast iron skillett.
You will be very happy with the 175! I have a 135 and I wish it was bigger.
