Hi Todd,
I think what they are refering to is reversing the operation of the O/D button. Originally most auto trannies had a button or shift position to engage the overdrive. On Mopars it was automatic, with driver input required to turn it off, Dodge has long suspected that many if not most of the 47RE problems can be traced back to driver error, ie, not taking the trans out of O/D under load or when towing. I believe that the new button is really just a feature to require driver input to engage the overdrive manualy so that towing and driving under load will not accidentally take place while in O/D. I haven't seen the final set-up, but that is how it was explained to me a few years ago while the 48RE was in development. However it was also infered that the 48RE would be a ground-up design to rival the Allison. At last report, the 48RE is just another in a 50 year long line of modified 727's.
