I'm working on a '53 B4 PW, when I took it apart, I found a 1.5 ratio NP201 to my surprise. The cases are interchangeable in the vehicle, but the case castings are a tiny bit different. I noticed that the big openings in the back of the 1.5 ratio case casting were not machined out large enough to fit the 1.96 ratio gears into. You can put 1.5 gears into a 1.96 casting if you wanted to. The only different parts between the two transfer cases are: 1) center idler gear assembly, 2) ebrake output shaft/gear assembly, 3) rear output shaft/gear assembly. There may also be a difference in the breather location, either on top of the case itself or on top of the ebrake output housing. Not sure about this. Rob
