I looked at them when I did my Cummins 4BT transplant in the '53M37. I know that Charles at M-Series Rebuild looked at them when he developed his M37 Cummins repower that he markets in MV Magazine and to Fire Departments...

In my case, the takeout price of the Cummins and local parts support was much better than for John Deere. In his case using new engines getting an EPA highway rated engine (emisions) might have also been a factor.

I know a couple folks who have installed JD engines in pickups... Look at the various forums that cater to diesels such as diesel central in their repower or other brands sections.
