Here in IN you would have been fine. No seatbelts required in any antique vehicle that was manufactured without them. As far a s trucks go anything in the cargo area including people over 12 yrs of age is considered cargo. Very ignorant and unsafe in my opinion but legal. As far as your truck goes if that area is desinged as a passenger area then it is probably OK even there in NJ as long as you have it plated as an antique veh. You probably were pulled over by a young Officer who really wasn't familiar with the seatbelt statute in your state. I am a police Officer here in IN and
that type of thing happens alot with young officers or those that are not smart enough to read up on the statutes so they don't make asses of themselves.
