What about re-tooling the production line?

Some additional cost in changing the truck to handle the /6 but getting it built probably would have added cost to it. By the time the /6 came out I am sure they had the Power Wagon production line down perfect.

The country had changed. Roads had been built and truck needs were changing. Probably not too many people wanted to run a belt pulley to turn some farm machine. They had a tractor to do that. No one wanted to poke along at 40mph to get from the farm to the city for something. The W300 would get right on the fresh paved hi-ways and go! Who ever needed and wanted a flat fender power wagon probably already had one and was using it. New flat fender sales I am sure were not a lot. Farmers who needed a new truck probably decided they would keep the old flat fender on the farm for rough duty and get a new W300 to run into town with.
The original flat fender power wagon was a dinosaur. Chrysler knew this and probably didnt justify the expense to put the /6 in the Power Wagon. Sales were probably dropping and with safety standards coming on with the government the cost to upgrade the PW wasnt worth the profit!
