I personally don't like holes drilled into the sheet metal if I can help it, that is why I'm glad both of my 64 WM300s came with them mounted to the radiator grillguards that mount outside and in front of the radiator shell. They were too big and gawdy to suit my taste so I removed them and replaced with a smaller more streamlined light.
