I used to think like you did. My car was one of the oldest most beat up work beaters in the lot. It was 20 years old when they stole it. You want to have the Police report in case your van was used to drag that naked lady down the street.

As far as murder goes, Los Angeles City proper averages 2 per night. I don't even want to think about how big or overworked the homicide squad is.

Los Angeles' homicide rate rose 11.1% during 2002, with 653 killings — the most for any city in the nation. The surge in homicides also was reflected in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, where the 135 killings were 25% more than in 2001.

Thank goodness I am miles from that mess.

Power wagons are pretty safe I would think. Only 1 in 10 punks know how to drive stick, and I think the extra levers might intimidate them. Coupled with the fact that a PW is not a very fast get-away car and is very recognisable, I have not considered lo-jack yet. I do remember a W500 stolen off the streets in Las Vegas I think, so nothing is a sure thing.

Your van will probably show up in a couple of weeks after sitting abandoned long enough to get a ticketed and towed.

As far as the 230 is concerned, I know this guy that hangs out at the 7-11 at the corner of urine and crimespree who can get you one for a good price. Some guy had it mounted in a old Ford van.

Best of Luck

Lonnie
