Well, Gee, thanks Lonnie! I guess that all makes sense. It sounds like you have been though the Memphis impound lot before.

Actually, I have suspected this for years. That is why I intentionally drive older vehicles. I have felt there is less chance that an old car or truck (i.e., with no collector car value) will be stolen.

It took the police two hours and fifteen minutes to respond to my report. The officer reported on this shift four cars were reported stolen, one fatal shooting occured, fifteen officers were involved in a street fight, a police dog was set loose and severely lacerated a suspect and there was an incident where an automobile was dragging a nude woman down the street. This is one eight hour shift and does not include the run of the mill activities like break ins, robberies, prostitution, drug arrests, etc. Welcome to Memphis: 2003! And none of this is considered important enough to make the newspapers.

I could not get a copy of the police report from the officer. He was kind enough to call me later and give me the number the computer assigned to the incident. A hard copy will cost me $15.

Well, enough whining! I am looking forward to the restoration on my 1957 flat fender. I am looking for a reasonably priced 230 c.i. either rebuilt or rebuildable. Any ideas?
