I know this is a little old hat, but last night after shopping for football gear, my son and I stopped by Books-a-million to check out the R/C nitro car mags. I mosey around looking at several diff. subject books and spot some interesting looking books like the history of the american light duty pu, 4x4's history, etc. and in each one they shared the same sales literature spec. which had the curb weight listed for the PU version as well as just cab and chassis. The thing I kept noticing was how close the weights listed were to what the scales showed the time I had my WM300 with no bed or winch.weighed at the state scales. I had est. that with the bed and winch it would weigh approx. 5'000lbs. The book says the curb weight for the PU version is 4,990lbs.
Why has there been such a wide margin of diff. between claimed weights of individual owners for their plain PU version of the FF PW ? Where some built with heavier duty frame a fraction thicker and a couple hundred lbs. heavier or do their frames have steel repair plates that maybe their not aware of adding the extra weight ? Could it be the diff in 7.50 vs 9.00 x 16 tires or maybe even an empty tank vs a full tank of gas or even a larger custom tank with more fuel.
As long as the scales are correct,a thing weighs what a thing weighs no matter what the literature says, but for ref. sake, This seems to be common spec info, how come it has never been added to the info section of most all sites ? It would be a good reference for anyone searching for this common type info about PWs ? In all the years I've been enjoyinging PWs, this is the first time I've ever seen this info printed from original literature, wheres it been all this time as I have search for this type info myself in the past ? OH YEA, they have a 4-door WDX body for the R/C nitro monster trucks in those mags.
