My Grandpa was there during my first years with the Power-Wagons. He always took a great interest in whatever I happend to be doing. This was the case as far back as I can remember. Working on bicycles, building tree houses, playing with American Logs or Bricks ("Lincoln Logs" for the younger fellas here), whatever the case may be, or what age I was at the time, he was there to experience the moment.

I would be working away, trying everything I could think of to build or repair whatever I was focusing on. He would stay quiet, but through it all, always had a tool ready to hand to me or a hand to lend to help hold something. After several trys, I would usually accomplish whatever I was trying to do. Then, he would show me the correct way to do it.

This, for me, was a great way to learn. I first found out what wouldn't work, then what would, and then I learned why one way may be better or easier than another. I learned that this way of teaching seemed to come natural to most of the older guys. Today it seems that those in the know want to jump in there right away, take it from you, and show you how it is done. I see this everyday at work. Everyone is in too much of a hurry. The old guys can teach a lot more to somone than just the correct whay to do something, they also teach patience.

Clint
