Actually, you cant compress the springs by putting weight inside the cab. The spring is on the bottom of the cab hard mounting perch, attached to the trucks frame.
The stackup is like this:
Bolt thru the cab. the cab sheetmetal, the rubber pad, the hard mounted perch, the spring the washer and then the nut.
So, as you can see, its cant be compressed that way.
The spring must be compressed from the bottom up.
somebody who rebuilt a wc 1/2 ton had to have also run into this very same problem.
