FYI the 1/2 ton uses a similar brake set up as the same vintage passenger cars. The adjustment of the brake shoe heel and toe (major and minor adjusters) is critical for proper braking action. First have your buddy pump the brakes so he has a firm pedal. Then release and try the pedal again. If the pedal goes down lower you still have air in the system and it need to be bleed and checked for leaks. If the pedal holds firm then the shoes need adjustment. Go to www.p15-d24.com and go to the WIP page. Their is a section on "Brakes". It has the info on how to properly set up the brake shoes.
