OK, I won't claim to be an expert in this area (yet) but
It seems to me that this dead-man switch idea is nowhere
near as safe as staying back from the spool and having a
reliable operator in the truck. When the dead-man switches off,
the engine will have a few more revs left before coming to
a complete stop. The operator can throw the cluch in and
stop things instantly.
This idea of a mechanical winder is even better. Anyone have a
design? Something like the thing on a fishing reel?
