I had the same problem with mine. What I did was take my trusty big orange screwdriver (flathead) and using a hammer worked it into the seam, to split it apart a little. There is a lot of beef there as you will see. I found out just how mutch when it finally split free and the lower half dropped on my big toe! Important lesson, dont get in such a rush as to forget common sense. Good luck.
