I would check the lines for rust. I had a 77
ex-farm truck and the line from the proportioning
valve to the rear differential rusted through. It
was a dirty job snaking replacement line past the
fuel tank and inside the frame channel - body off
wouldn't have made any difference on that section.
Eventually ended up custom replacing all of the
metal lines and proportioning valve - parts houses
only carried generic straight tubing and the
dealers are all closed on weekends. If you make
replacement lines, make sure you can double
flare the ends for the fittings.
