Now it's the brakes

I finally took my M37 out for a "long" drive (5 mi) and as I drove, the brakes
started applying themselves, getting tighter and tighter. Eventually the brake light
stayed on continuously and I had to use a fair amount of power just to keep moving.
By the time I got it home, the brake pedal wouldn't go down at all, and two of the
drums were smoking. The next day I go out to try to figure it out and the pedal has
plenty of slack, the brakes don't drag, and all seems fine. When I got the truck,
I rebuilt the wheel cylinders and master cylinders and adjusted the shoes.

Any ideas on this one? Sometimes that truck acts so strange, you'd think it had
software in it.
