No, I'm fortunate enough to have overdrive 5 speeds on both of mine. But if I didn't have a 5spd I'd want an overdrive. I feel even 4.89 gears, with 36-38" tires, is too steep in 4th gear to unleash all the performance deliverable by a
V8 or diesel re-power. With 9.00R16 Michelins and 4.89 gears, rpms at 65 mph (which is a "safe" highway cruise speed in a rig with good tires, front disk brakes and a strong motor) are 3030 - too much for a gas V8 to deliver good economy, and really too much for a diesel governed at 2800. with a 0.78:1 overdrive, rpms drop to 2350 at this speed, just right.
