Yes, from my experience this will work. I have done the same thing to my '73. Get the full B&M tranny rebuild kit before you start. The only thing you need to change on the BB tranny is the output shaft and the extention adapter. As for the headers, as far I know, the frames are the same, but I wouldn't swear to it. Just try it and see, good luck! By the way, you really should drop in the 440 instead of the 383, more power is always best!
