Army's used DOT 5 since mid 80's. NO army vehicle would still have brakes filled with DOT 3,4. Only a contracted vehicle might. As much as I've seen our trucks dissassembled and reassembled for the tinniest seapege (SP) I cannot for the life of me imagine a M35 not having been in for a brake job for 15+ years. The smear technique works, but the smell should be different too, smell your car (personal w/DOT3,4) then the master on the truck. (Don't let your neighbor or wife see you do this or they may call the nut ward) I've used DOT5 in my Command Car for 10+years, the seals on the Dodge just leaked more than the older stuff. Now I have 4 disc brakes and no leaks yet. Regards Winget
